Thing 5 - Video Presentation.  I decided to create a Powtoon to give Library Borrowers information about accessing Library Resources when the Library is closed.
I created the Powtoon using the classic studio and adapting the templates, as this was my first time using Powtoon.  Powtoon guide you through the process and you can adapt the various templates adding text etc. I found the tutorials very helpful.
My advice for anyone using Powtoon for the first time would be to know your story line before you start and what you want to say in each slide. I enjoyed creating this Powtoon and I hope you enjoy watching it.

Thing 15 Evaluating Information

Thing 15 Evaluating Information Before looking at Thing 15 I would have rarely looked at Wikipedia except for a general overview of a topic. I probably had a negative viewpoint about it which was why I rarely visited the site. Now that I know how it works it does highlight my misconceptions. It is good to know that it has improved the encyclopaedias that I grew up with – The Joy of Knowledge was collected in our house.   It is good to have the Reading Lists that we can go to and explore a topic in more detail and it is encouraging that a lot of these references are available for free.   It is also comforting to know that Wikipedia keep an eye on edits and these can be reverted back within a relatively short space of time. One of the weaknesses described in the interview was diversity within Wikipedia and probably people have the misconceptions, which then stops them getting involved in Editing.   I think it is a good initiative to get Librarians involved 1lib1ref. Thing 6 - Reflective Blog

I decided to do the Rudai 23 course to improve my online skills and to explore online tools, for social media which would be useful for the Library.  Visual communication is becoming more important as there is less use of written text but I believe you need a balance approach.  At the Library we have been recreating our posters with images and less text as people don’t have the time to read a lot of text.  Since starting the Rudai 23 course it has been the first time for many Things and I have embarked on this journey of online learning which has been interesting, challenging and informative.  I have been a stressed at times thinking how will I do that.  It can be a bit frustrating knowing what you want to achieve but not having the technical experience to do it.  It has been a big learning curve but one which I have enjoyed.
